Hello and welcome to the Toy Teas Around the World (TTAW) website where fun and friends get together over a cup of tea to make wonderful things happen in the lives of children. The purpose of this magical site is to encourage you to host a Toy Tea of your own.
A Toy Tea is simply a gathering, over a cup of coffee or tea and maybe a few goodies, of your friends where they can donate new, non-violent toys for you to distribute to needy children residing in women’s shelters and your community at large. And it's FUN!
When you host a Toy Tea you will be giving love, hope and the gift of magic to a child in your community. It doesn't take government, big business, social services, it just takes you, the power of one. You as an individual are empowered to make a difference. To leave your footprint. And to make a child happy with the gift of love and just one toy.
The Montreal Toy Tea, founded 21 years ago, is a grass roots movement in support of children who are victims of domestic violence. The Toy Tea for Children is now a registered Canadian non-profit charity (Number 873544712RR0001), which annually collects and distributes new, non-violent toys to these children during the holidays. So many children’s lives have been touched by this wonderful event we don’t have room to tell you about them. But since 1991 children spending the holidays in a women’s shelter have enjoyed at least one new toy, and their mothers have been encouraged that they are not alone.
Today that original idea is expanding. The Vision of the founding members is to encourage others worldwide to start their own Toy Teas within their communities to collect and distribute new, non-violent toys as an expression of unconditional love to disadvantaged children around the world.
Whether a large event like the Toy Tea in a department store in downtown Montreal, or a small event in your dining room, the Toy Tea is a practical and fun way to help make children’s lives happier while enjoying friendship and fellowship over a cup of tea and a plate of goodies.
Our Mission is to see 1000 Toy Teas started in dining rooms and kitchens around the world, reaching children of every race, colour and creed with new toys during their respective and traditional holidays.
